CES 2018 Trends: AR Takes Over

Augmented reality will be a big topic at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, NV.

We couldn’t stop hearing about augmented and virtual reality in most recent years. From the release of VR headsets, like the Oculus Rift, to the release of Apple’s ARkit software, augmented and virtual reality is slowly beginning to take over. It’s only a matter of time until we start seeing our everyday reality transform with the capabilities of AR and VR software.

You’ve already been exposed to this technology. Mobile gaming has shifted towards using AR software since games like Pokemon Go took the world by storm. And if you’re an avid Snapchat user, then you’ve most likely seen AR work in action. Every time you add a sticker or face filter to your Snapchat footage, you’re creating augmented reality, in the mildest sense.

Since the release of Apple’s ARkit software, the mobile app market has changed. App developers now have more tools to create augmented reality apps for smart device users. But AR isn't just confined to the realms of mobile gaming and social media. Although the potential for AR is barely being discovered, CES 2018 is leading us into an augmented future as companies attempt to transform entertainment, health and education.

CES 2018 is packed with augmented and virtual reality conferences. The AR Marketplace will also feature some big names in the business. Sony, Kodak, and Carl Zeiss are just a few of CES’ featured exhibitors presenting their latest AR and VR developments at the augmented reality marketplace.

We’ll keep you guys updated with all the latest AR news, demos, and devices from CES 2018. Check out our RAVV Youtube page for livestreams and footage of CES.
